In the era of excellence and innovation in design, design processes became well defined. Sustainable environment, design for living, Design of commodity, and design for beauty…among others, became reliable, uniform, and predictable ways to get the job done. In time, re-thinking design in many architectural practices will be defined processes with the same extent of clarity. However, at the moment, the term means many things to many people and many times 're-thinking design' doesn't ever seem to be a fulfilled process.
iDAR 's intension is to present a new strategy of "Re-thinking design"; The Alternative Excellence Framework [ALEF]. ALEF offers a process by which architectural practices, design practices and teaching studios can perform and achieve excellent "Re-thinking design".
